Thank you for your support for 10 years Mrs Wright.
Common Cleaning Misconception No.4
"Having the right equipment is all a company needs to clean my carpets and upholstery properly"
If this was true carpet cleaning would be very much a DIY task using hired equipment. Unfortunately it isn’t that easy. To clean carpets safely and effectively needs knowledge of the chemical and physical principles involved, together with some insight into fibre technology and carpet construction.
Make sure the cleaner you choose has had proper up to date training in cleaning technology and the equipment he is using. All our technicians are trained to the highest standards in the industry and receive regular update training.

" If you want good reliable friendly service then Clean and Dry is the company to phone."
Mrs Wood of Cantley has been a regular client since 1999. We visited again recently and this are the comments we have received...
Your representatives and servicemen are always very cheerful. If you want good reliable friendly service then Clean and Dry is the company to phone. We always have a very friendly serviceman and today he was excellent. We have had you before and thought the service was excellent.
Thank you for your kind words, it's very rewarding to know the teams hard work is appreciated, Allan.
What's lurking in YOUR carpet?
The House Dustmite.
Research done on behalf of the Carpet Manufacturers Association showed that, contrary to popular belief, indoor air quality is improved by installing carpets. The reason is that the carpet acts as a filter and traps household dust instead of allowing it to rise into the air we breathe at every tiny disturbance. This only works until the ‘filter’ becomes clogged. Vacuuming three or four times per week with a machine fitted with a HEPA filter is recommended with deep cleaning every six to twelve months to remove the embedded pollutants.
So what does get into your carpets and furnishings? Virtually anything and everything! Outdoor air and dust contains pollen, mould spores, fungus, viruses, bacteria, pet dander, toxic chemicals and fumes and a host of other pollutants. Unfortunately, it is impractical to totally prevent these from entering our homes. They come in naturally as the air changes and we carry them in on our clothing and shoes and even in our hair and on our skin. Add the indoor problems of house dust mites, dropped food crumbs, cooking fumes, loose hair and dead skin cells and you start to get an idea of the things we live with every day.
If your carpets and furnishing are vacuumed and deep cleaned regularly it will safely remove the trapped pollutants and improve your indoor air quality. If they are allowed to accumulate they can start to smell and may even become a health hazard.
Why Carpets are the Healthy Option...
Pollutants are trapped by the carpet instead of wafting freely into the air we breathe. Regular vacuuming and deep cleaning keeps the ‘filter’ working efficiently and our air cleaner and healthier.
According to the National Asthma Campaign, 80% of asthma sufferers react to house dust mites and “… the house dust mite can actually cause asthma in the first place” (Asthma News, spring 2000). It isn’t the mites that cause the reaction but their faeces. Fortunately, the droppings are water soluble and proper cleaning with water can remove the problem. More recent research suggests that eczema can also be aggravated by house dust mites.
The biggest problem area for dust mites is, of course, bedding and mattresses. The bedding is washed frequently of course, but it may be worth considering having mattresses deep cleaned once or twice each year to remove the dust mite allergens.

Common Cleaning Misconception No.2
"The only reason to clean my carpets, rugs or upholstery is for appearance when they look dirty”
As you probably know, outdoor air contains pollens, mould, fungus, bacteria, cigarette smoke, car exhaust – and hundreds of other potential allergens. When you come into your home, you carry these undesirables in your hair and on your skin, clothing and shoes. Not surprisingly, all those chemicals and toxins wind up in your carpets and upholstery together with the house dust mites, food crumbs and drink spills. If they are not cleaned out they can start to fester.
If you have allergies, asthma, emphysema, or other breathing problems – one major source of your problem could be the nasty things in your carpets and upholstery.
The U.S. Environmental Agency recommends deep cleaning carpets every 6 to 12 months to control these harmful elements. We can even apply a sanitiser called 'Formula 429', which is the NHS's choice of sanitiser and won a NHS award.
It's important to clean for hygiene as well as appearance.

Common Cleaning Misconception No.6
"Any honest carpet cleaning company should be able to give me an exact price quote over the telephone".
I wish this was true, but it isn’t. There are too many variables. Reputable cleaning companies almost never price carpet cleaning over the telephone. Professional carpet cleaners usually start with a standard price for the area of carpet (remembering to make allowances for chimney breasts etc.) and then adjust it up or down depending on the type of carpet, the age and condition of the carpet, the amount of furniture in the room and the type of cleaning needed. Put simply, some carpets are more difficult to clean than others and the price reflects the difference.
This means that a fixed price quoted over the telephone is likely to make allowances for the worst case and an ‘estimate’ over the telephone is probably going to be increased when the cleaner arrives.
It only takes a few minutes to check that your carpets and upholstery can be cleaned safely and properly, calculate the proper price and provide a written quotation.

"We always have you to clean our carpets."
Mrs Wood of Sprotbrough Doncaster has used us regularly since 1999 and after a recent visit ot clean carpets commented.
Been satisfied on previous occasions. We always have you clean our carpets. Have always been satisfied
We can help you keep your carpets and furnishings fresh and bright, and certainly for a fraction of the cost of replacing them.
There are four steps to fresher, cleaner
and healthier furnishings and home,
here's... STEP No. 4: Once you’re satisfied that you’re working with an honest, competent business, invite them to your home and ask for a specific quotation in writing, remember – it should be free and place you under no obligation what-so-ever. A written quotation should give you the assurance that you know exactly what service you will receive and what your job will cost – no surprises.
By following these four steps, you’ll gain all the information you need to make an informed, intelligent decision. If you want a quick, cheap cleaning job many companies in the telephone directories can help you. You could even rent a shampooer from a local shop and do the job yourself. If you want your carpets and upholstery cleaning properly and safely, then choose a reputable professional company that can deliver all your objectives and guarantee their work.

Common Cleaning Misconception No.1
"I should wait as long as possible before having my carpets, rugs and upholstery cleaned."
This simply isn't true. It's been shown that dust and dirt are abrasive, like sandpaper. Every time you step on your carpet, you grind dirt into the carpet fibres. The grit you can't vacuum out stays at the bottom of the carpet grinding away at the very base of the fibres, causing premature wear. An uncleaned carpet will not last as long as a regularly cleaned carpet. While vacuuming is essential, by itself, it’s simply not enough.
The longer you wait to have your carpet cleaned, the more damage you do to your carpet and the faster it wears out.
Here is a graph from the IICRC (Now the CleanTrust Organisation) research on carpet maintenance. You can clearly see the regular planned maintenance of carpets greatly increases their life.
